Jamaica Shuts Down During the Holidays...

This week proved busy, as we all scrambled to finish up work before the holiday vacation-time set in.  We definitely took breaks to play dominoes, have mini dance parties with friends, and go on leisurely walks in the cooler, 70-degree weather.

Harbor View vs. Tivoli Gardens!
One of the most fun things we did was go to a FOOTBALL game (what you Americans call "soccer"!!!).  Ashley and I went with Kam and Saran (and other members of the Stewart family!) to watch Harbor View (their hometown team) play Tivoli Gardens.  It was definitely an intense game, full of injuries and awesome goals and lots of aggressive behavior both on and off the field.  In a very close game, Harbor View won 3-2!  It was great to watch a live game - fresh air,  many fans and lots of cheering :) Definitely an enjoyable evening!

Sekai Enjoying the Game!!
In terms of my Fulbright project, the highlight of my week was sending out a comprehensive survey to the majority of the gynecologists in Jamaica.  Though this process was a little painful (it involved sitting with a phone book and calling each doctor with the help of Victoria Jubilee's Senior Medical Officer), I am really looking forward to getting results soon and moving forward with my study!  This week marked the midway point of my grant period... I can't believe how quickly it has gone by!

As the 4 of us (Jazz, Ash, Erica and myself) played dominoes last night, we realized that there is SO much fun ahead of us!  For example, the GUPTA family arrives in Jamaica tomorrow, for a week of beach, tourist attractions, and food :)  We spent the night making a calendar of the four of our schedules (color coded, of course)... Sadly, there is such little "blue" (group) time, as we all go off on our own adventures.  But we have so many visitors in the near future!  Looks like 2011 is going to be awesome...!
